If you have not already done so, early registration is now open through April 30, on the Conference website, www.iajgs2016.org. Early registration offers a $55 discount on the Conference. You may now register for the Conference and reserve your hotel room upon finishing Conference registration. Rooms at the Seattle Downtown Sheraton are available at the Conference rate of $219 per night, plus tax, but only through the Conference Registration page. Room reservations made through other means will be at a substantially higher rate. We hope to add SIG lunches, the Gala Banquet, and side tours to the registration process in the next couple of weeks. You will have the ability to go back in and add additional items at any time between now and two weeks before the Conference, depending upon availability. Registering early has a special perk – a raffle will be held in early May, after the closure of early registration. If you register in the month of January, you will have 4 entries in the raffle; entering in February will get you three entries. March registrants will receive two entries, and those who register during the month of April will get one entry. Prizes for the raffle will be announced shortly. Preparations are ongoing for the Conference and we can promise you an exciting experience. From our Keynote Speaker, Dr. Devin Naar, through our Banquet Speaker, “Legal Genealogist” Judy Russel, some of the best and brightest in the genealogy and Jewish genealogy fields are expected to present on a variety of topics. The Conference theme is “The Wandering Jew” and main tracks include The Sephardic Experience in the United States, European Migrations, South American, Australian and South African Branches, Westward Ho! Jews in the Western US, and Coming Home to Israel. A special and separate session will be held on Sunday morning, August 7. This is designed for Jewish Educators and Educators from all over the world are invited to hear presentations revolving around teaching Jewish genealogy to the youth of the world. Registration for these sessions is also found on the Registration page, and registration includes a kosher breakfast and lunch. If you are registering for both this session and the Conference, a special rate is now available. A number of presentations will be live streamed for those who either can’t attend, or have a tough time choosing between sessions they wish to attend. You can get a discounted rate by registering now for LIVE! on the Conference registration page, whether or not you are able to attend. These presentations will be archived for at least three months after the Conference. In addition, an early advance price for DVDs of the audio and presentation slides of many of the presentations can also be found there. Finally, we still have a few cabins left for the Alaska cruises before and after the Conference. For instructions on booking a cabin for cruises to beautiful Alaska, see the blog on our website. Unfortunately, due to Dept. of Homeland Security regulations, you can only book cabins through our Travel Agent if you are a US citizen or legal resident. All others can book directly with the cruise lines, but you will not get a lower price, nor will they provide the help our Travel Agent is offering to help you determine which side trips to take. Each cruise has a number of options. Your Co-chairs are excited about making this both an educational and fun Conference. We are looking forward to seeing you August 7-12 in Seattle!
