Reminder: About Three Consultation Opportunities in Resource Room

There are three different organizations which will provide opportunities for personal consultations in the resource room except on ProQuest Day- Wednesday August 10.  There will be sign-up sheets in the Resource Room. To ensure that you get the time you want for any of the following consultations, you are encouraged to sign-up on the sheets in the Resource Room.

 

Irish Jewish Roots

 

Stuart Rosenblatt, Irish Jewish Roots  http://www.irishjewishroots.com/names/index.html

 

Stuart will have on his laptop the Irish Jewish database of 56,113 names of people who lived in Ireland between 1700 and the present day.  The database includes information on date and place of birth, school, marriage and occupation details as well as available to links to parents, children and siblings. There are over 70 fields of information covering 32 Irish Counties. This information will only be available on Stuart’s personal computer, not on the resource room computers.

 

Stuart will be available in the resource room at the following times:

 

Tuesday, August 9         10:00 am- 12 noon

                                       2:00pm-4:00 pm

Thursday August 11     10:00 am-12 noon

                                       2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

 

United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM)

 

We will have available two representatives from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) for consultations in the Resource Room:

Megan Lewis,  Reference Librarian, USHMM and Teresa Polin, Museum Curator, USHMM

 

In addition to the USHMM link on the resource room computers with their public information, Megan and Teresa will have dedicated computers for consultations: The databases that Megan will have are internal databases including: Holocaust  Survivors and Victims, Survivors Registry, International Tracing Service (ITS), in-house digital collection and more. Additionally  they will have the database of photographs including the Bitola also known as Monastir.  These are not accessible on the Museum’s public computers.  Teresa will be able to speak on documents and artifacts at the Museum. 

 

The times that USHMM representatives are available are:

 

Monday August 8:       9AM-12 noon and 1:30 PM to 6PM

Tuesday August 9        9AM-12 noon and 1:30 PM to 6 PM

Thursday August 11   11AM-1:30PM, 3:00PM-5:00PM

 

Yad Vashem

 

We will have available two representatives from Yad Vashem for consultations in the Resource Room: Dr. Alex Avraham, the director of the Hall of Names and  Zvi Bernhardt, Deputy Director of the Hall of Names Department and Deputy Director of the Reference and Information Department, Archives Division in Yad Vashem.

 

In addition to the Yad Vashem link on the resource room computers with their public information, Alex and Zvi will have on their own laptops available for consultations: the Yad Vashem names and archival database. The internal database on names is more extensive than the one accessible to the public through the link on the resource room computers. The one on their personal computers also includes information on some survivors. They will also have the ITS (Arolsen) database available.

Alex:  

August 9   Tuesday:  2:00-4:00 PM

August 11 Thursday:  09:00-11:00 PM

 

Zvi:

August 7    Sunday:  4:00PM-6:00PM

August 8    Monday:  9:-1:30 PM; 2:30-6:00PM

August 9   Tuesday: 9:00-1:00PM; 2:00-6:00 PM

August 11 Thursday: 9-12:30 PM; 3:00-5:00 PM
