Elana Lichtman Broch wondered if we somehow shared her information to get her involved in indexing.  While that is undoubtedly a good thing, the IAJGS Conference List information is shared with no one outside of the Conference.  We are not responsible for that invitation.  Everything else she has to say, of course, we are fully in agreement with.  Glad you are coming to Seattle and glad you have found ways to contribute for all of our benefits.  Now if you have family from some towns in Ukraine… The Ukraine SIG, and all of the other JewishGen SIGS are always in need of volunteers!

I can't believe I didn't think of mentioning this earlier.  I was wondering how I got the invitation to participate and wondered if it was through registering for the IAJGS conference.

I had the opportunity to index two types of records.  Hard work but so interesting.  Many of the records are in English but there is certainly a need for foreign languages.  I had hoped to do Viennese Meldezettel but it was too complicated.  I don't read German and the handwriting makes it so hard.

I'd recommend indexing as a way to contribute to genealogy.

I'm sure you can learn from indexing something that will help you be a better researcher.  While the weekend is almost over, I'm sure there are future opportunities for volunteer indexers.

Hope to meet many of you in Seattle.

All my best,

Elana Lichtman Broch
